Born in Los Angeles during 1981, but bred and nurtured in California’s Bay Area, Metallica (James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo) rewrote the heavy metal and hard rock playbooks, in the process becoming a worldwide musical phenomenon. With millions of album sales and streams in addition to thousands of sold-out venues around the globe, Metallica’s music has spanned the cult-classic prototype thrash of their 1983 debut album, Kill ‘Em All, to their wildly accessible hard rock classic, 1991’s The Black Album. Now approaching 40 years as a band, the guys continue to be one of the top touring acts in the world, with over two million fans attending the 150+ shows on their recent WorldWired tour.

Drummer Lars Ulrich is the percussive-dynamo driving Metallica. Born on December 26, 1963 in Copenhagen, Denmark, co-founder Ulrich is obsessed with all aspects of Metallica’s world, tirelessly making sure that the band continues to grow and push musical boundaries, and proudly retaining an encyclopedic knowledge of their history. Ulrich’s unique ability to consistently reinvent himself as a world class drummer via developments in style and approach continues to entertain and inspire legions of fans.
