Earth A.D. / Wolf’s Blood from The Misfits saw the band really show their fangs with a faster and more aggressive full-length recording than the previous full-length album, Walk Among Us. In 1983, Earth A.D. fired off (9) blistering tracks at a total running time of just under 15 min. This was a seminal moment in music, where punk is fueled by a thrashier style of playing, laying down the blueprint for the hardcore metal scene that would follow. Previous classic sing-along tracks like “Skulls” were transposed against songs like “Green Hell” that delivered vicious chugging from deep below the surface of Earth A.D. The sheer audio assault of this album is timeless, along with the underground comic illustration by the late Mad Marc Rude that graces the cover. Sadly, this was the last full length record release from what is considered to be the classic Misfits lineup of Jerry Only, Glenn Danzig and Doyle von Frankenstein.
