September 18th 1970 is a one of the most star-crossed days in rock music history. On this day, the original wave of guitar heroes crashed with the death of Jimi Hendrix; although many would argue Hendrix was a tsunami on his own. Sept 18th 1970 also marked the advent of what we now know as “metal” with the release of the seminal Black Sabbath record Paranoid.
By all accounts, Jimi Hendrix was at a transitional point in 1970, living in London with some sincere doubt about the recording industry and where he wanted to take his career. While there have always been questions and doubts, there has never been any information to say Jimi’s death was anything but a tragic mistake with sleep medication.
We recognize Paranoid was the 2nd record for “Brummies” Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, but the tracks on the record speak for themselves. After this release, Sabbath shifted gears and begin to tour worldwide as a headliner, and enjoying their only real radio play from that era with the single Paranoid. Drop the needle on that record now, it immediately transports you to an amazing time in music, but it also holds up so well. Any band would give body parts to have their name on that album today.
We currently have 2 different KnuckleBonz Jimi Hendrix Ltd. Editions Statues that are still available to our website. Check out Hendrix from the Hear That Train a Comin’ and Woodstock eras here.

Thx as always and Rock Hard this Labor Day Weekend.
Can still remember getting this record and taking it to Catholic School. We were allowed to play our own records at break time. Obviously, they did not bother listening to the lyrics LoL.
Master of Reality is the third studio for Black Sabbath. It’s said this is somehow the foundation for Doom or stoner metal, but don’t get that. What was the debut album and Paranoid?
Drop the needle on Into the Void today. That might be our “dessert island” track. Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward were really coming into their own here.
Rock Hard !
Hard to believe we lost Ronnie James DIO over a decade ago. Remembering DIO on what would have been his 80th birthday.
Ronald James Padavona “DIO”, is one of the most versatile and powerful singers in music history. His range, stage presence and ability to deliver a line was un-paralleled. RJD burst on the worldwide stage as a member of Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow creating amazing debut and sophomore efforts before being tapped to replace Ozzy Osbourne after his exit from Black Sabbath. We can remember really wanting to “not like” Heaven and Hell, but Ronnie’s amazing voice with a re-energized Sabbath line-up made it impossible. DIO went on to massive solo success creating one of the finest heavy metal records of all time, Holy Diver.
We were fortunate to work with Ronnie’s estate to create (2) KnuckleBonz Rock Iconz Ltd. Edition statues. Both have been long since sold out. You can occasionally find then on the secondary markets with a hefty price tag which is common for most all our SOLD OUT products.
Rock in Peace RJD !

March 17th is always a bitter sweet day on the KnuckleBonz calendar. It’s the day we saw the great Randy Rhoads at the height of his guitar hero powers on the Diary of a Madman Tour in Atlanta. The Omni was SOLD OUT and the 2nd Ozzy Osbourne solo record was charting hard. The band was now a firm Arena headliner.
Can remember watching Randy Rhoads that night in front of the towering Diary of a Madman stage set and being struck by the fierceness of his playing. However, is was in contrast to his posture on stage. What we were hearing did not seem to match what Randy was doing with his hands. It seemed so effortless for him. It was unlike anything we had every seen. All in our crew at the show were music Superfans, but none was a guitar player. We simply did not have the ability to understand what we just saw. I told Delores Rhoads about this when we met about the 1st KnuckleBonz statue in 2003 for Randy and she knew exactly what I was talking about. She said, “Yes, Randy was always in good position, his left elbow at his side with good posture. Good posture is the foundation for any instrument.” He was so schooled, now it all made sense.
While the excitement and appreciation of that eve will never diminish, it is always accompanied with the memory of the utter shock of only 2 days later when we loose Randy Rhoads in the plane crash on March 19th, 1982. Can’t believe it has been 40 years…no words. RIP RR…
We are currently In-Stock for the latest Randy Rhoads KnuckleBonz Rock Iconz Collectible statue as well as 3D Vinyl for the Diary of a Madman Tour.

A must on the KnuckleBonz travel list is a pilgrimage to the Mapledurham Mill and Estate in Oxfordshire, England. Black Sabbath SuperFans will know this is the site of the original album cover photo shoot by photographer Keith “Keef” Macmillan for the debut album released in February of 1970. The young model, Louisa Livingstone, had no idea her image was about to become the corner stone of heavy metal as she posed in various shots in the black robe and green face makeup for Black Sabbath. The haunting image of the Mapledurham Mill, which dates back to the to the 12th century, still brings chills and memories of the initial thunder clap of the album title track Black Sabbath. Even crazier is this record went to catholic grade school with us in the early 70s and was played as part of recreation time. We were allowed to bring our own music and play on the library record player. Not a single Nun or teacher at the Holy Spirit Elementary ever raised an eyebrow…classic. Very progressive for the church of Rome to be sure.
Take a second and visit the official website of the Mapledurham Estate here. The mill is still operational, the last commercially working watermill on the River Thames, and the property is wonderfully maintained. Maybe put on Ozzy, Iommi, Geezer and Bill Ward’s Sleeping Village from the debut album to set the mood. You will be transported to another place…

November 15th, 1983 was the initial release date for Ozzy Osbourne Bark at the Moon. This was the 1st studio release since the tragic lose of Randy Rhoads and the debut of the amazing talent Jake E. Lee on guitar. The record was the 3rd Top 20 USA charting record for Ozzy and removed any doubt as to the band rebounding from loosing Randy.
KnuckleBonz 3D Vinyl Collectible Ltd. Edition Statue design for Bark at the Moon opted for the full statue design over the 12×12 format used on Diary of a Madman. The 3D Vinyl Series created the great album art we all love in 3D statue designs. Check out Ozzy Osbourne and all the 3D Vinyl Collectibles here.
