QUEEN Concert Light Rigging – “A Living Bewathing Entity”

There are many great concert light rig set-ups from over the years, but how many felt like a living breathing entity? The Pink Floyd circular projection screen immediately come to mind, but for us the QUEEN concert rig that was born in the 80s is super signature. The individual light banks had the ability to move and rotate independently and in unison. They would often frame the back of stage, but during points in those shows they would move to be a complete wall to back-light the band. At other times they rotated over top of band to look like an alien landing. Each light bank felt it was self-aware.  Saw this light-rigging last with Freddie Mercury while the Flash Movie Soundtrack in full swing in 1981. A all time fav memory…

“Far Beyond Production” – Pantera’s New Far Beyond Driven 3D Vinyl® Collectible Statue

Here’s a quick shot from the KnuckleBonz factory production floor of Pantera “Far Beyond Driven” 3D Vinyl® Limited Edition Collectible Statue. Picture here shows the shading step to get the dark colors into the sculpted textures on the skull and base. That is done by hand, using special paint and a skilled artist with a rag to wipe away the proper amount of color. Not high-tech, but gets the effect we want. This production has gone along fairly smoothly. No real Covid-19 impact on this production team; we can’t say that across productions this year. Twisted Sister’s production was interrupted for a 2nd time last week pushing the ship dates for that project back.

Motorhead Warpig – Rock Iconz Statue – Some Design Issues for 3D

When we designed the original Motorhead Warpig Rock Iconz(R) statue back in 2017 we ha d a few problems to solve to have it work as a desktop or shelf mount statue. As Motorhead Superfans will know, the original logo of the menacing Snaggletooth is white on black and has the Warpig floating above the Motorhead typeface with the chain and ornaments hung underneath. No problem in 2D, but to get this same set up in 3D we had to figure our what to do with this negative space. We experimented with the head mounted on a pole that looked OK, but somehow less powerful. That’s when the idea of the war-torn debris pile came up. We all dug that and it took on a life on it’s own. It was the clear design winner and it went into production in mid-2017. We continue to keep this limited edtion open for now, but it will be closing soon.

Today is Rock Iconz Eddie Van Halen Birthday – Stop and Listen

Edward Lodewijk van Halen was born on this day in 1955 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.  Already feels like a long time since we lost Eddie Van Halen to his long fight with cancer in October of last year.

There are numerous news stories that report Eddie had big world tour plans before his cancer returned that could have included a Van Halen stadium tour. What sights and sounds that would have created with original Van Halen members brother Alex Van Halen, David Lee Roth, Michael Anthony.

Take a moment and play your fav Van Halen track today….stop and try to remember the 1st time you heard it. Music has that amazing power to take you a specific moment in time. Stop and enjoy…add the sight of Eddie’s great smile on stage. Your day will be better for it.

AC/DC “Hell’s Bell” Rock Iconz On Tour Collectible “It’s like you were there in 1980”

AC/DC “Hell’s Bell Rock Iconz On Tour Limited Edition Collectible “It’s like you were there” in 1980.

The AC/DC “Hell’s Bell” first graced the AC/DC live stage in support of the “Back in Black” world tour in 1980. This was the band’s 7th studio album and the 1st with new frontman Brian Johnson. For anyone associated with that tour, it quickly became clear that this was not just another stage prop. It was, in fact, a 1300kgs bronze colossus that actually smashed through many concert stages during load-in as it was wheeled into position in the custom road case. This bell was special, as it was not only an amazing sight during live performances, but it was the very same that was rang out (13) times on the “Hells Bell” track on the album.

“HELLS BELL ACROSS THE SKY”

The new Rock Iconz® “On Tour” Series brings music fans and collectors moments in and around the world’s great live performances and world tours. Each On Tour collectible is hand detailed and is an officially licensed limited edition.
