KnuckleBonz – Black Sabbath “Pilgrimage to Mapledurham Mill”

A must on the KnuckleBonz travel list is a pilgrimage to the Mapledurham Mill and Estate  in Oxfordshire, England. Black Sabbath SuperFans will know this is the site of the original album cover photo shoot by photographer Keith “Keef” Macmillan for the debut album released in February of 1970. The young model, Louisa Livingstone, had no idea her image was about to become the corner stone of heavy metal as she posed in various shots in the black robe and green face makeup for Black Sabbath. The haunting image of the Mapledurham Mill, which dates back to the to the 12th century, still brings chills and memories of the initial thunder clap of the album title track Black Sabbath. Even crazier is this record went to catholic grade school with us in the early 70s and was played as part of recreation time. We were allowed to bring our own music and play on the library record player. Not a single Nun or teacher at the Holy Spirit Elementary ever raised an eyebrow…classic. Very progressive for the church of Rome to be sure.

Take a second and visit the official website of the Mapledurham Estate here. The mill is still operational, the last commercially working watermill on the River Thames, and the property is wonderfully maintained. Maybe put on Ozzy, Iommi, Geezer and Bill Ward’s Sleeping Village from the debut album to set the mood. You will be transported to another place…

Rock Iconz – Black Sabbath on the Rock Walk of Fame

On this day in 1992 Black Sabbath was inducted in the the Rock Walk of Fame in Hollywood, CA. Unlike the other walk of fame in Tinsletown, this is reserved for all our rock music heroes.

Our Rock Iconz Statue Series has been fortunate enough to work with Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi on limited edition designs.

Tony’s statue is from the Black Sabbath era circa 1972 with him in one of the flowing silk tops. This was before going to the signature black stage wear. That Rock Iconz is in stock. Ships today, order here.

Ozzy’s Rock Iconz designs have been more from his solo era. Those designs are long since SOLD OUT, but we do have Ozzy Osbourne Diary of a Madman and Bark at the Moon 3D Vinyl is limited supply. Don’t miss out, once the are SOLD OUT, they are gone forever. We have never rereleased any SOL OUT design in the history of KnuckleBonz. Order Here

We still hold out hope to create a set for the band adding Geezer Butler and Bill Ward. But, as you know, licensing for bands that are no longer performing together can be a challenge. KnuckleBonz only created officially licensed work.

Black Sabbath Never Say Die – Were You There?

September 1978, the KnuckleBonz® Krew were just getting back into the flow of a new high school year and Black Sabbath Never Say Die dropped on all us Back Street Kids. It was bitter sweet as the album had some really great moments, but for the first time as fans, we could start to see some of the cracks that were forming in the original Black Sabbath line up of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward. The “Johnny Blade” track was the high pint for us. The bridge in that song is still send chills down the arms. Later that year we would see this tour live with “Special Guest” none other than Van Halen on their 1st national tour…what we wouldn’t give to set the way-back machine and see that show again.

We are fortunate to me working with Metal Lord Tony Iommi in  our Rock Iconz Statue Series at present. Tony’s Rock Iconz Ltd. Edition statue is on back order, but production just wrapped up on the new wave of production and is on the way to our US warehouse for the holidays miss out and reserve yours here.
