AC/DC Powerage Album – The Most Underrated ?

Released in 1978, AC/DC Powerage was a “jagged edged gem,” but underrated in many years. This was the 5th studio album from the band, and the first to feature bass player Cliff Williams who would also add backing vocals. During the recording in 1977, the AC/DC w/ Bon Scott was really coming into their own. Tracks like Riff Raff, Sin City and Down Payment Blues told you all you needed to know about the band. Not a better combo of speed and raw energy, founded in the blues, existed at this time.

Powerage did perform slightly better than the previous AC/DC Let Their Be Rock, reaching #133 on the Billboard Charts.  The practice of multiple releases for different US markets was still in use with the Australian, UK and USA releases all having alternate mixes and album art.

Perhaps the best case that this is the most underrated album comes from the pinions of rock royalty, Eddie Van Halen and Keith Richards have both stated this was their favorite AC/DC record.  But the most ringing indorsement comes directly from the AC/DC camp. The album remained a favorite of AC/DC co-founder Malcolm Young, who was quoted in AC/DC: Maximum Rock & Roll saying, “I know a lot of people respect it. A lot of real rock and roll AC/DC fans, the real pure rock and roll guys. I think that’s the most under-rated album of them all.“

The AC/DC cover art we know best features the mighty Angus Young with photo effects to make it look like he is being electrocuted. Very coo, for the pre Photoshop era where all effects were film-based. Also totally in step w/ the bands early imagery. This is a KnuckleBonz 3D Vinyl® design we have been working at on and off for about 2 years. The band has approved the design and we will be rolling that out to you for a limited edition on only 1978. This is in the 3D Vinyl format that sets the limited edition number to match the year the album was releases.

RIP AC/DC’s Malcolm Young – A member of the KnuckleBonz Rock Iconz Series Since 2007

On this day we lost Malcolm Young, described as the driving force of AC/DC. Although younger brother Angus Young was always the face and the focus of the band in the music press, Malcolm was that “right boot,” kicking the band in the rear every night to deliver their brand of hard rock that has never waivers to this day.

Our original licensing deal back in 2007 saw release Angus and Malcom Young in sperate limited edition statues. Long since SOLD OUT, those AC/DC statues are some of the most sought after in the 19 years of KnuckleBonz.

Bon Scott Rock Iconz Statue – LIVE at KnuckleBonz

Thought we would share a nice shot of our Bon Scott Ltd. Edition Rock Iconz Statue in a typical display set up for Superfans worldwide. This is LIVE from the KnuckleBonz Studio in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Like all KnuckleBonz Collectibles, Bon Scott is a limited edition hand cast statue. Not more than 3000 will be created for AC/DC and Bon Superfans worldwide.

BON SCOTT, the charismatic frontman of the legendary hard rock band AC/DC®, was born Ronald Belford Scott in Kirriemuir, Scotland on July 9, 1946.  The Scott family moved to Australia when Bon was     6 years old. He showed interest in music in those early days, performing in his Dad’s pipe band. After quitting high school, he formed a local group called The Spektors in 1964 where he played drums and did occasional vocal work. This was the first hint at what was to come. In 1974, Bon joined AC/DC as lead singer and thus began a rise to hard rock superstardom. Bon’s combination of bluesy vocal riffs and gritty song writing was amazing. His power on the live stage was even more lethal. AC/DC would morph from domestic rock heroes in Australia, to global fame. The band’s fan base, ever loyal, grew with each album release right through Bon’s last recording, “Highway to Hell.” This was a breakthrough for AC/DC reaching number 17 on the Billboard charts in the USA and multi-platinum sales. Sadly, we lost Bon Scott shortly after on February 19th, 1980. However, he will never be forgotten and remains one of rock music’s greatest Rock Iconz®. Let There Be Rock !

Each KnuckleBonz Rock Iconz Limited Edition Statue is hand-crafted. Never more than 3000 pieces are cast for super-fans worldwide. All Rock Iconz statues are    officially licensed, limited edition collectibles. This is a fine arts production process where each statue is hand-cast, painted and numbered. Rock Iconz are created in 1/9 scale making them 8 to 9 inches tall. Each statue comes with a certificate of authenticity on the base of the statue.

AC/DC Highway to Hell and Back In Black – What a Difference a Year Makes.

AC/DC released (2) of the greatest hard rock albums of all time almost (1) year apart to the day. Highway to Hell was released on June 27th 1979. This record brought the band to International fame on the strength of all the great songs and increased FM Radio play with the title track “Highways to Hell.” This was also the final record with leader singer and frontman Bon Scott. After Bon’s untimely passing, the band would release the multi-platinum “Back in Black” with new signer Brian Johnson on July 25th 1980. WHat a difference a year can make…Back in Black would properl the band to arena and festival headliners. AC/DC has never looked back and continues to record and tour at the highest levels.

ACDC FAQ

Q – Can I buy it where I live?

                A – Day one of the roll out AC/DC® TNT Double IPA and AC/DC® PwrUp Juicy IPA will be available Pre-Orders for California Residents. Check our “Coming Soon” section on the website for states that will be live for Pre-Orders soon.

Q – Will the AC/DC Beers be sold at retail?

A – Yes. The ACDC Beers will be sold through grocery chains, beverage chains and independent retailers. Sign up Here to get all the latest updates. It will be changing fast in the days after launch.

Q – When will it be available in stores.

A – As of today, beers will first be in stores mid-September. Keep checking the website for updates.

Q – Is it sold in single cans, bottles, 6 packs or 4 packs?

                A – AC/DC® TNT Double IPA and AC/DC® PwrUp Juicy IPA will be sold in 4 pack 16 oz cans.

Q – How much are the 4 packs?

                A – The ACDC 4-Packs will be $18.99

Q – When will it be coming to a store near me?

                A – Check the website for initial information on where to purchase the beers.  We will be working with regional distributors to make AC/DC® TNT Double IPA and AC/DC® PwrUp Juicy IPA available on-line and in stores near you as soon as possible.

Q – How come it is not available nationwide at launch?

                A – The ability to sell beer is changing rapidly. However, only the states we mention in the “coming soon section of the website” allow us to sell direct to consumer. Beers are sold to retail through regional distributors. We are working with these companies to get the beer to ACDC fans nationwide as soon as possible subject to the laws in individual states.

Q – Are other beers from bands coming?

                A – Oh yes!!! Calicraft and KnuckleBonz have a full line of beers that will bring some of the greatest bands to our new craft beer line.

Q – Did you work with the band on these beers?

                A – Yes, ACDC has final approval over all details including the design on the can.

Q – How long will it be available?

A – The Calicraft x KnuckleBonz partnership will constantly be bringing music fans kick ass craft beers from the biggest and most influential bands in history, but given this is craft brewing, it’s TBD how long any one beer in each limited series will run.
