40th Anniversary Diary of a Madman – 3D Vinyl at It’s Best

Yesterday marked the 40th Anniversary of the release of Ozzy Osbourne’s 2nd studio album Diary of a Madman. Ozzy was in full slight as a solo artist at this time on the strength and performances surrounding the solo debut record, Blizzard of Ozz. This was also the high point for the great Randy Rhoads as a recording artist. More time in the studio allowed Randy to truly explore his brilliance. The record also has Lee Kerslake, formally of Uriah Heap, on drums. Although, the touring duties and recording going forward was to be handled by Tommy Aldridge of Black Oak Arkansas fame. If you never got to see Tommy on his double bass in a live set, you really missed something special.

We created Blizzard of OZZ for our 3D Vinyl® Statue series and it remains on the the finest examples of what this collectible category can be. Pictured here is a live shot from the KnuckleBonz studio. Only 1981 have been hand cast and detailed for Ozzy Osbourne Superfans worldwide. You can order this Limited Edition Here.

Also, check out our Randy Rhoads Rock Iconz® Lid. Edition statue that is now shipping. This design is from the touring of the earlier album Blizzard of Ozz. Randy stands about 8.5 inches tall in this limited edition sculpt. Order Here

Black Sabbath Never Say Die – Were You There?

September 1978, the KnuckleBonz® Krew were just getting back into the flow of a new high school year and Black Sabbath Never Say Die dropped on all us Back Street Kids. It was bitter sweet as the album had some really great moments, but for the first time as fans, we could start to see some of the cracks that were forming in the original Black Sabbath line up of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward. The “Johnny Blade” track was the high pint for us. The bridge in that song is still send chills down the arms. Later that year we would see this tour live with “Special Guest” none other than Van Halen on their 1st national tour…what we wouldn’t give to set the way-back machine and see that show again.

We are fortunate to me working with Metal Lord Tony Iommi in  our Rock Iconz Statue Series at present. Tony’s Rock Iconz Ltd. Edition statue is on back order, but production just wrapped up on the new wave of production and is on the way to our US warehouse for the holidays miss out and reserve yours here.

Iron Maiden Senjutsu Album – Highest Charting in the USA

Iron Maiden Senjutsu new album has Maiden fans and critics agreeing; this is a truly amazing recording delivering on the promise Maiden has been keeping since the bands founding while adding some new flair. And of course a new amazing Eddie theme…the Smaurai Eddie is “Killers” if you will excuse the pun.

The word Senjutsu loosely translated from Japanese means, “tactics & strategy”. The Iron Maiden grand plan must have included releasing their first studio record since Book of Souls in 2015. This is the longest span of time between Maiden studio albums since the first recording with frontman Paul Di’Anno in 1977.

Senjutsu is one of Iron Maiden’s most successful studio recordings to date. It topped #1 on the charts in Belgium, Finland, Germany, Italy, Scotland, Sweden and Switzerland. This also includes the highest Billboard charting in the USA. Iron Maiden Senjutsu  peaked at #3 on the US charts 2 weeks ago.

Iron Maiden fans will be happy to know, that at long last, KnuckleBonz® has signed a new agreement with the band and is hard at work on new designs to be launched later this year and thought out 2022…#statuned…UP THE IRONS!

Candlemass “Epicus Doomicus Metallicus” is latest entry to the 3D Vinyl Collector Series

The doom “metalpiece” from Candlemass “Epicus Doomicus Metallicus” is latest entry to the 3D Vinyl® Collector Series from KnuckleBonz®. This 1986 release in considered a defining moment on the heavy metal timeline.

We launched pre-sales last Friday for Candlemass. The signature skull of Epicus Doomicus Metallicus is mounted atop dilapidated oak, not exactly “Under the Oak” if you will pardon the pun. Rusty barb wire encircles this design atop the classic Candlemass red logo. We went back and forth between the 12×12″ format we used for things like Mercyful Fate “Don’t Break the Oath” 3D Vinyl and this table top design. We opted for this ultimately because you Superfans have been telling us you prefer that format.

The Canlemass 3D Vinyl Ltd Edition Statue is  cast in resin and hand detailed. It stand’s 10 inches tall and ships with a color package and custom packing. Only 1986 of this design will be cast for Candlemass and Doom Metal Superfans around the world.

Don’t miss out. Pre-Order your here.

PINK FLOYD – 46 Years Later, Still, “Wish You Were Here”

On this day in 1975 Pink Floyd released their follow up album to Dark Side of the Moon, “Wish You Were Here.” This was the 2nd full-on concept album from the band and was written exclusively by Roger Waters. After the life changing success of Dark Side, Waters laments about the loss of the talent and friendship of Syd Barrett  and the bands growing distaste for the music business. It’s no surprise that music critics would knee-jerk and write that the new material was largely uninspired.  However, fans disagreed and the album went to #1 in birth the USA and the UK. Both David Gilmour and keyboardist Richard Wright have said Wish You Were Here was their favorite Pink Floyd album.

Wish You Were Here was one of the 1st creation in our 3D Vinyl Limited Edition Statue Series that celebrates the great album art of the last 50 years. Check out Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here 3D Vinyl here.

Candlemass “Doom’s Day” – Epicus Doomicus Metallicus

June 10th was forever known as “Doom’s Day,” when Candlemass released their debut album laying the cornerstone to a new musical genre “Doom Metal.”

Candlemass was inspired by the fathers of all forms of metal, Black Sabbath. Adding operatic vocals to to slow, ominous riffs, Candlemass departed from the common faire of the day coming  out of Europe which featured panicked speed and high pitched vocals.

While certainly not a commercial success on it’s initial release, the band was actually dropped by the original record label because of slow sales. Epicus Doomicus Metallicus is now permanently etched in the timeline of all true metal fans of any form.

Candlemass “Epicus Doomicus Metallicus” Track Listing:

1. Solitude
2. Deaths Gate
3. Crystal Ball
4. Black Stone Wielder
5. Under The Oak
6. A Sorcerer’s Pledge

Drop the needle on this metal masterpiece today…

Happy Bday Rock Iconz Rudolf Schenker of the Scorpions

A belated happy birthday to Scorpions co-founder Rudolf Schenker. The mighty German Axeman turned 73 yesterday.

We were fortunate to be able to work with the Scorpions across all our product lives Rock Iconz®, 3D Vinyl® and On Tour ™ this past year. Check out all the KnuckleBonz Collectible for the Scorpions Rudolf Schenker, Klaus Meine, Mattias Jabs here.

Scorpions were founded in Hannover Germany in 1965 by Rudolf Schenker.  From the outset, the band has laid down hard rock and heavy metal that has excited fans across the planet. The soaring vocals of  Klaus Meine along with the dual guitar attack of Rudolf Schenker and  Matthias Jabs has been the engine driving classic albums such as “Lovedrive, Blackout, Love at First Sting” and many others. Perhaps no other band in rock history has been able to master hard driving riffs alongside power ballads.  In 1988, Scorpions were the first major rock band to play in the Soviet Union with (10) SOLD OUT shows. The following year, they headlined the Moscow Music Peace Festival which was the inspiration for this statue design.  Scorpions have influenced countless contemporary bands and to this day remain a stadium and festival headliner. Scorpions celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2015, and there is no end in sight with new tour dates to come.

Pink Floyd – The Story of Wish You Were Here

This will not be a news flash for Pink Floydians, but I have been surprised recently in conversations of the number of people who are not aware of a really great documentary of the making of Pink Floyd “Wish You Were Here.” If there has ever been pressure on a band to follow up after breakthrough commercial success in music, this is it. If you recall, Wish You Were Here was the follow up album to Dark Side of the Moon, need we say more.

The (59) minute film was released in 2012 and has interviews with all four Pink Floyd members, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright and Nick Mason. There is a a focus on specifics for all the tracks like Have a Cigar and Welcome to the Machine, but there is also a large section on how the record was inspired by co-founder Syd Barrett. The band gives candid insight on the relationship each member had with him. We were struck by the sincere sadness you could see from Roger Waters and David Gilmour about the loss of this great talent and great friend.

Also,  there are awesome interviews with the visual side of Pink Floyd in cartoonist Gerald Scarfe and designer Storm Thorgerson. They are both heroes to us here at KnuckleBonz.

The Story of Wish You Were Here It is easily streamed on a number of video services. We caught it this weekend on the music streaming service Qello.

We have lots in the works with Pink Floyd now in all 3 of our collector series, Rock Iconz®, 3D Vinyl® and On Tour ™. Check that out here.
