Pantera Far Beyond Driven Peaked at #1 – What a Subject for KnuckleBonz 3D Vinyl

Far Beyond Driven #1 Album Debut – What a Subject for KnuckleBonz 3D Vinyl…

On this day 1994 Pantera released the album Far Beyond Driven and it soared to number # on the Billboard Top 200. Quite a accomplishment for any band, but this was industry shaking for the metal music genre and fandom. Phillip Anselmo, Dimebag Darrell , Vinnie Paul Abbott and Rex Brown were on the top of their game and credited for saving the metal scene. Now to be honest, we all know metal does not need saving actually and will NEVER die, but I think we all felt some pride surrounding this record.

We are well into shipping our KnuckleBonz Limited Edition statue for Pantera Far Beyond Driven. This addition to our 3D Vinyl Series saw the 1st production lot Sell Out almost immediately and we just landed some more inventory. Like all KnuckleBonz Collectibles, this is a limited edition. Not more than 1994 will be cast for Pantera Superfans and collectors worldwide. Order your here.

March 17th 1982 – A Bitter Sweet Day for KnuckleBonz…Randy Rhoads and Diary of a Madman Tour

March 17th is always a bitter sweet day on the KnuckleBonz calendar. It’s the day we saw the great Randy Rhoads at the height of his guitar hero powers on the Diary of a Madman Tour in Atlanta. The Omni was SOLD OUT and the 2nd Ozzy Osbourne solo record was charting hard. The band was now a firm Arena headliner.

Can remember watching Randy Rhoads that night in front of the towering Diary of a Madman stage set and being struck by the fierceness of his playing. However,  is was in contrast to his posture on stage. What we were hearing did not seem to match what Randy was doing with his hands. It seemed so effortless for him. It was unlike anything we had every seen. All in our crew at the show were music Superfans, but none was a guitar player. We simply did  not have the ability to understand what we just saw. I told Delores Rhoads about this when we met about the 1st KnuckleBonz statue in 2003 for Randy and she knew exactly what I was talking about. She said, “Yes, Randy was always in good position, his left elbow at his side with good posture. Good posture is the foundation for any instrument.” He was so schooled, now it all made sense.

While the excitement and appreciation of that eve  will never diminish, it is always accompanied with the memory of the utter shock of only 2 days later when we loose Randy Rhoads in the plane crash on March 19th, 1982. Can’t believe it has been 40 years…no words. RIP RR…

We are currently In-Stock for the latest Randy Rhoads KnuckleBonz Rock Iconz Collectible statue as well as 3D Vinyl for the Diary of a Madman Tour.

Pink Floyd – Live Performance as an Art Form

As Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon creeps up on the 50th Anniversary next year, it’s important to remember the impact the album had musically. However, for us here, it’s even more vital to remember the impact Pink Floyd would have on live concert performance that can be traced back to this era. Evolving from the liquid light shows in the Syd Barret era, The Floyd introduce Mr. Screen in France 1973 along with  the short films of Ian Emes. These short films loosely tell the story of the individual tracks of the 42:49 minute Dark Side of the Moon. A touchstone moment. Pink Floyd also performed Dark Side live with the Roland Petit Ballet, an unbelievable mash-up for 1973. The success of Dark Side of the Moon allowed the band to expand on these live performance ideas that would grow into the gold standard for what a stadium rock concert experience would become. Pink Floyd was the 1st  to take their own custom sound and light equipment  out on the road. The original lighting stage dress featured cherry pickers with stage lights that moved during the show…an cool concept that was born out of necessity because of the issues surrounding a traditional light truss. There is little pro-shot film for video from this era…the stills we have must tell the story. What an amazing time for music…

We hope to create some of the moments for the KnuckleBonz Collectors and Pink Floyd fans around the world later this year.

Trending in the right direction?

Earlier today the Coachella and Stagecoach Festivals Drop all Covid Protocals. Hopefully, Bottle Rock and other festivals can move to this.

Bottle Rock is the lineup that KnuckleBonz is lost looking fwd to with Metallica, Pink, Greta Van Vleet, Grandmaster Flash The Black Crowes all scheduled to perform. That’s by far the most diverse lineup of the early/spring festivals.

KnuckleBonz – Black Sabbath “Pilgrimage to Mapledurham Mill”

A must on the KnuckleBonz travel list is a pilgrimage to the Mapledurham Mill and Estate  in Oxfordshire, England. Black Sabbath SuperFans will know this is the site of the original album cover photo shoot by photographer Keith “Keef” Macmillan for the debut album released in February of 1970. The young model, Louisa Livingstone, had no idea her image was about to become the corner stone of heavy metal as she posed in various shots in the black robe and green face makeup for Black Sabbath. The haunting image of the Mapledurham Mill, which dates back to the to the 12th century, still brings chills and memories of the initial thunder clap of the album title track Black Sabbath. Even crazier is this record went to catholic grade school with us in the early 70s and was played as part of recreation time. We were allowed to bring our own music and play on the library record player. Not a single Nun or teacher at the Holy Spirit Elementary ever raised an eyebrow…classic. Very progressive for the church of Rome to be sure.

Take a second and visit the official website of the Mapledurham Estate here. The mill is still operational, the last commercially working watermill on the River Thames, and the property is wonderfully maintained. Maybe put on Ozzy, Iommi, Geezer and Bill Ward’s Sleeping Village from the debut album to set the mood. You will be transported to another place…

Bon Scott Rock Iconz Statue – LIVE at KnuckleBonz

Thought we would share a nice shot of our Bon Scott Ltd. Edition Rock Iconz Statue in a typical display set up for Superfans worldwide. This is LIVE from the KnuckleBonz Studio in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Like all KnuckleBonz Collectibles, Bon Scott is a limited edition hand cast statue. Not more than 3000 will be created for AC/DC and Bon Superfans worldwide.

BON SCOTT, the charismatic frontman of the legendary hard rock band AC/DC®, was born Ronald Belford Scott in Kirriemuir, Scotland on July 9, 1946.  The Scott family moved to Australia when Bon was     6 years old. He showed interest in music in those early days, performing in his Dad’s pipe band. After quitting high school, he formed a local group called The Spektors in 1964 where he played drums and did occasional vocal work. This was the first hint at what was to come. In 1974, Bon joined AC/DC as lead singer and thus began a rise to hard rock superstardom. Bon’s combination of bluesy vocal riffs and gritty song writing was amazing. His power on the live stage was even more lethal. AC/DC would morph from domestic rock heroes in Australia, to global fame. The band’s fan base, ever loyal, grew with each album release right through Bon’s last recording, “Highway to Hell.” This was a breakthrough for AC/DC reaching number 17 on the Billboard charts in the USA and multi-platinum sales. Sadly, we lost Bon Scott shortly after on February 19th, 1980. However, he will never be forgotten and remains one of rock music’s greatest Rock Iconz®. Let There Be Rock !

Each KnuckleBonz Rock Iconz Limited Edition Statue is hand-crafted. Never more than 3000 pieces are cast for super-fans worldwide. All Rock Iconz statues are    officially licensed, limited edition collectibles. This is a fine arts production process where each statue is hand-cast, painted and numbered. Rock Iconz are created in 1/9 scale making them 8 to 9 inches tall. Each statue comes with a certificate of authenticity on the base of the statue.
