This week in 1994, Pantera’s “Far Beyond Driven” shocked the music world by debuting at #1 on the Billboard Charts. This was no real surprise to metal music fandom, but it did jolt the popular music world. It was the 1st time a metal record had debuted in the charts at top slot. Even more amazing, is that Phillip Anselmo, Dimebag Darrell, Vinnie Paul and Rex Brown had not taken step back on the aggression meter to achieve mass market success. Quite the opposite. The band had ratcheted things up a notch from of “Vulgar Display of Power” to deliver something even more brutal.
We have honored this Pantera heavy metal masterpiece in our 3D Vinyl® Limited Edition Collector Series. 3D Vinyl brings the great album art to life in limited edition statues. Each piece is hand cast and detailed and ships with a hand numbered certificate of authenticity. All KnuckleBonz® work is officially licensed. Limited to only 1994, the statue is a desktop mount design. Dimension at 7″ Wide X 8.5″ Deep X 8″ Tall.
Production is complete and these statues have arrived at the US ports and are gong thru customs now. Hope to be ship later in April.

Here’s a a couple of shots showing the custom packing for the Rock Iconz® Collector Series. Pictured here are the designs for Metallica Lars Ulrich’s Rock Iconz Ltd. Edition Statue. These are designed and drop tested to keep the statue safe as it travels to Metallica Superfans around the globe. There’s actually (2) designs as the Metallica production was done in multiple locations across different teams over the course of 2020 to keep things moving during multiple work stoppages due to Covid-19.
Some of our collectors have contacted us to say they are missing parts like drum sticks, drum legs and microphone for James Hetfield. In most cases, it was simply a matter of not knowing the parts are shipped separately to avoid breakage of these very small and fragile parts. These shots in our Blog show the location of all the separate pieces for the Lars Rock Iconz Statue in the internal packing. In the case of the microphone for James and sticks for Lars , they are painted black and tend to blend into the custom shaped slots in the black custom packing.
As always, if you have any issues with any KnuckleBonz products, contact your place of purchase and they will make sure you are happy with your collectible.

Just saw some studio footage of Grand Funk Railroad in the studio making the Multi-Platinum “We’re an American Band” album and it struck me how underrated the “Boogie Rock” bands are today. You know Mark Farner, Don Brewer and Mel Schacher SOLD OUT Shea Stadium faster than the Beatles for their 1971 concert. In a live setting, there’s no greater music than a set from bands like Foghat or ZZ Top. Even going further back to Bachman-Turner-Overdrive, drop the needle on the “Not Fragile” track. It’s still so heavy, but in that era…forgeddaboudit! While labels fractured this music further with the “southern rock” label ect, it was still about great live music that made you want to stomp your feat. Even Angus Young described the early AC/DC days as being a “dance band.” Angus has said, “if people didn’t dance, they didn’t drink beer, and if they didn’t drink beer, you didn’t get invited back to play at that place.” It’s that simple.
Check out some of these great Boogie Rock Bands today like …Black Oak Arkansas, Brownsville Station, Humble Pie and Montrose with the great Ronnie Montrose. Yuh here us Sammy Hagar?

Here’s the Grand Funk Footage:
A “High Voltage Happy Birthday” to AC/DC’s Angus Young.
Like the electricity from “High Voltage,” Angus Young continues to power AC/DC into their 5th decade. Since forming in 1973, AC/DC’s fiery brand of hard rock has rolled on consistently selling out arenas and stadium tours.
Check our the Pre-Order for our Angus and Brian Johnson AC/DC Rock Iconz Limited Edition Statue. Production is well underway and we are on track for a Fall 2021 release. Don’t miss out on this hand-cast officially licensed piece of hard-rock art. Only 300 will be created for AC/DC Superfans…

April 1st is a bitter sweet day in AC/DC history and it has nothing to do with April Fools. It’s the day the band officially announced Brian Johnson as their new singer to replace Bon Scott after his tragic passing.
Brian may have been somehow destined for the AC/DC gig by Bon Scott himself. Before joining AC/DC, Bon was with his Aussie group, “Fang” doing a “Hail Mary” tour in the UK. This was a last chance for this struggling outfit and they opened for a moderately successful glam-rock group called “Geordie.” The singer was none other than Brian Johnson. Brian was actually sick during their set with a stomach ailment that had him drop to his side in pain during a couple numbers. Bon thought it was part of the performance and mentioned it to Angus Young and Malcolm Young some time later. That mention got Brian on the audition list when AC/DC has decided to carry on and look for a replacement for Bon. The rest we now know is history. AC/DC “Back in Black” was released later than year in July and the band was on their mega-stadium headliner trajectory that continues to this day.
Pictured in our blog is Angus Young atop Brian’s shoulders from circa 1980 in our AC/DC Rock Iconz Limited Edition Statue design. Urban legend is that Bon was inspired to do this during the AC/DC shows because of seeing Brian pull this off in the Geordie live show. Brian would have to weigh in on what’s the real story there. The statue is in full production and tracking toward a Fall 2021 ship date.

Rock Hard! Kbonz
This was Van Halen’s 3rd studio release and they were now firmly atop the arena rock scene. Recorded in only 2 weeks, this record got lots of airplay, but take some time today to drop the needle on a couple of tracks. “Everybody Wants Some!!” is a fav here at KnuckleBonz. The intro shows off Eddie Van Halen’s effects wizardry and subtlety before the entire band comes in at 1:09 with the opening riff. No better way to kick off a weekend. Also too, check out a somewhat unheralded track that starts off Side 2, “Tora Tora.” The EVH effects mastery is on display again but there is a ominous heaviness to this song that is a little “Un-Halen-like”. Eddie plays an imposing trill that Tony Iommi would be proud of.
By this time Eddie’s playing is getting wide praise across the music industry with Rolling Stone making Hendrix comparisons. Thankfully they state that Eddie Van Halen “is no clone” which any Van Halen fans knows he was not. Rolling Stone had a bad habit of hating on bands all of us dug. Glad they got this one right.
Drop the needle on this classic this weekend.
